What institutional leaders carry

Every person who works with you also has an opinion about you. Every decision you make is also a story other people will tell. Every Sunday or every fundraising appeal or every all-staff is also a sermon to yourself you have to keep believing.

The institution gives you a calling, a community, and a job description. It does not give you a chair where the institution itself can be set down for an hour and looked at honestly. It cannot — that chair has to come from outside.

Why I’m in this conversation

I spent the first part of my working life in pastoral ministry — fifteen-plus years across local church, multi-site, and executive pastoral roles. I have carried the same weight institutional leaders carry. I am also an ICF-credentialed coach, working outside ministry as a private partner to founders, CEOs, and senior leaders.

What that means in this conversation: I understand the weight without needing it explained. I am not interested in coaching you toward a particular ecclesiology, denomination, or organizational philosophy. I am interested in whether you are still the leader the institution needs you to be — and what to do about it if you are not.

What we don’t do

We do not consult on your church, your school, your nonprofit, or your denomination. We do not interview your staff. We do not write your strategic plan or your capital campaign. We are not a board, not a search firm, not a coach contracted by the institution.

The work is yours. The chair is private. What you bring stays private. We publish no case studies. We name no clients.

Shape of the engagement

Six months. Two to three 60-minute sessions a month, held remotely, with unlimited access between them. A longer first session opens it. A final session closes it. Faith is welcome in the conversation if it shapes how you lead. It is never performed, and it is never required.

Investment is quoted in conversation. Sliding scale considered for institutional leaders working under board-set compensation.

Beginning

Write to us as the leader of the institution. Tell us what you are actually carrying, what is actually getting in the way, and what kind of partner you have been looking for.
